This is the underside of the Year 2000 M5. Notice the cover on the differential which sports substantial fins just like the one on the M Coupe and M Roadster. BMW seems to feel that cooling of the differential has become important on its newer sport oriented vehicles. Also observe the very large diameter dual stainless steel exhaust. If you ever have the opportunity to poke your head underneath the back of a new M5, then do so. It's worth it. The exhaust is truly a work of art. |
